Indian Forces Launch Operation Sindoor, Retaliating for Pahalgam Attack

National: In a determined response to the devastating terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the loss of 26 lives, the Indian Armed Forces initiated Operation Sindoor today, May 7. The operation involved targeted strikes against terror infrastructure located across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The Indian Army has officially confirmed the successful engagement of nine terror-linked sites. The military described the operation as a focused, measured, and deliberately non-escalatory action. Notably, the Army emphasized that Indian forces meticulously avoided targeting any Pakistani military installations, highlighting India’s strategic commitment to proportionality and precision in its response.

Adding to the gravity of the situation, shortly after the strikes, Former Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Naravane posted a cryptic yet resolute message on the social media platform X: “Abhi picture baki hai…” This statement, translating to “The movie is not over yet…”, has ignited widespread public and political discussion, widely interpreted as a clear indication of India’s unwavering readiness and resolve in the face of terrorism.

Reinforcing the message of decisive action, the Indian Army, through its official channels, declared unequivocally: “Justice is served.”

Further details were provided by the Ministry of Defence, which stated: “Our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. It is important to reiterate that no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted during this operation. India has demonstrated considerable restraint both in the selection of targets and the method of execution.”

Operation Sindoor signifies a notable intensification in India’s counter-terrorism strategy, underscoring a policy of zero tolerance for terrorism originating from across its borders, while strategically avoiding a broader military conflict.

As national security agencies and diplomatic channels remain on high alert, political leaders from across the spectrum have reacted with cautious acknowledgment of the gravity of the situation, extending their full support to the armed forces in their actions.

The regional situation remains highly tense, and further developments are anticipated as various regional and international stakeholders formulate their responses to India’s decisive move.
