Indian-origin Astronaut Raja Chari named for Manned Mission to Moon
Indian-origin Raja Jon Vurputoor Chari who is an US Air Force Colonel has been selected among 18 astronauts for NASA’s manned mission to Moon and beyond. The lunar exploration mission will land the first woman and next man on the Moon in 2024.

NASA on Wednesday had named 18 astronauts who will train for its Artemis moon-landing programme in which Raja Chari was selected. Raja Chari 43 was a graduate of the US Air Force Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and US Naval Test Pilot School, is the only Indian-American in the list. He was also selected by NASA to join the 2017 Astronaut Candidate Class.
