“During the auspicious festival of Navratri, Indian Railways brings to you a special menu to satiate your Vrat cravings, being served from September 26 to October 5. Order the Navratri delicacies for your train journey from the ‘Food on Track’ app, visit ecatering.irctc.co.in or call on 1323,” the Railway Ministry said in the tweet.
Today marks the beginning of the nine-day Shardiya Navratri festival, which is dedicated to Maa Durga and her nine avatars (Kalash or Ghatsthapna). Hindus enthusiastically celebrate the event all around the nation.
There are many different ways to celebrate Navratri in India. North India hosts Ramlila celebrations, mostly in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, during which episodes from the Ramayana are performed. The conclusion of the Vijayadashami narrative is marked by the burning of King Ravana’s effigies.
