Indian Woman Sunita Bhuyan Wins Prestigious SheInspires Award
Guwahati: A SheInspires Award for 2022 has been won by Sunita Bhuyan, an Assamese woman living in Mumbai despite stiff competition on a national and worldwide level.
Sunita a violinist and HR specialist, was recognised as a Global Culture Champion for her use of music as a tool for leadership, creativity, and well-being around the globe.
“I was absolutely delighted to win,” explained Sunita. “The competition was very strong this year and there were some amazing finalists. I’m very grateful for the nomination and would hope to build on my work by trying to impact more lives through music and to use both the genres or Indian folk and classical.”
The SheInspires Awards have been presented for eight years and this is only the third year they have been presented internationally. There have been submissions from the UK as well as Denmark, India, South Africa, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Spain, Doha, Germany and Turkey.
Gulnaz Brennan, who organised the awards, said: “The calibre of the nominations has been very extraordinary. There were 187 contenders in 17 categories, making the judges’ job exceptionally challenging. I’m very proud of the accomplishments of Sunita and other truly amazing women from around the world who have been recognised by expanding the awards to an international audience.”
