India’s Biggest Band Battle ‘Ticket to Hornbill’ Kicks Off in Nagaland from October 18

Kohima: The much-anticipated “Ticket to Hornbill,” India’s biggest band battle, is set to take place from October 18 to 21 at RCEMPA in Jotsoma, near Kohima, Nagaland.

Organized by Shreyas Group, this event serves as the curtain-raiser for the 25th edition of the iconic Hornbill Music Festival, according to Theja Meru, chairman of the Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA).

The live performance rounds will be held on October 18 and 19, where 30 shortlisted bands will battle for a spot in the grand finale. Seven bands will be selected to compete in the final round on October 21.

Esteemed judges for the live rounds include Arpito Gope, Moanungsang, and Viveick Rajagopalan, while the grand finale jury will feature prominent names such as Subir Malik, Sonam Kalra, Suraj Mani, alongside Gope and Moanungsang.

A grand prize of Rs. 4 million will be awarded, with Rs. 2 million going to the first-place winner, Rs. 1 million for second place, and Rs. 500,000 for third place.

Additionally, musical equipment worth Rs. 500,000 will be given as individual prizes. Coca-Cola will be the official beverage partner, and Sennheiser the audio partner.

The live rounds will start at 12 noon, with free entry on October 18 and 19. For the grand finale on October 21, tickets will be priced at Rs. 50.

Parking arrangements have been made at Kohima Science College ground, with a Rs. 20 service charge for each vehicle, and vehicle security managed by the Phezhu Youth Organisation Jotsoma.

Concertgoers are advised that food, alcohol, weapons, sharp objects, and laser lights will be strictly prohibited, and bags will be subject to checks at the gates. Food stalls will also be available on-site, and the organizers reserve the right of admission throughout the event.
