India’s envoy to Palenstine found dead in Indian Mission
Guwahati: India’s representative to Palestine, Mukul Arya was found dead inside the Indian Mission in Ramallah on Sunday. The cause of his sudden death was not immediately known.
On Sunday, Palestine’s top leadership expressed astonishment at Mukul Arya’s death at his employment.
The news of Ambassador Arya’s death was met with “great dismay and shock” by the Palestinian foreign ministry.
Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has expressed shock over the death of the diplomat. Jaishankar tweeted, “Deeply shocked to learn about the passing away of India’s Representative at Ramallah, Shri Mukul Arya.”
He further added, “He was a bright and talented officer with so much before him. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Om Shanti.”
Arya was a 2008 IFS officer who attended Delhi University (economics) and Jawaharlal Nehru University. He was also a member of India’s Permanent Delegation to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is in contact with India’s External Affairs Ministry to finalise plans for conveying Arya’s lifeless remains.
