India’s G20 Presidency Begins From Today, 100 Monuments To Be Illuminated

Guwahati: India will officially take over as president of the G-20 organisation the main forum for global economic cooperation on Thursday.

From December 1 to 7, 100 monuments including UNESCO World Heritage Structures and sites bearing the G-20 mark will be illuminated for seven days, from Delhi’s Red Fort to Thanjavur’s Great Living Chola Temple.

These 100 locations range from Humayun’s Tomb and Purana Quila in Delhi to Modhera Sun Temple in Gujarat, Konark Sun Temple in Odisha and Sher Shah Suri’s Tomb in Bihar.

India will hold 200 meetings throughout the world during its year-long chairmanship in more than 50 cities and 32 distinct industries.

India’s goals for the Summit the next year emphasise the nation’s digital transformation and include the provision of inexpensive technologies for sustainable environmental development.

In order to provide Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors with a venue to debate international economic and financial issues, the G-20 was established in 1999 following the Asian financial crisis.

The Group of Twenty (G-20) is made up of 19 nations: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Over 75% of global trade, approximately two-thirds of the world’s population, and about 85% of the world’s GDP are all represented by the G-20 countries.

The group’s primary goals are to advocate financial laws that decrease risks, avert future financial crises and build a new international financial architecture while also achieving global economic stability and sustainable growth.

According to a press announcement from the Ministry of External Affairs, India will be the Presidency in 2023 and will host the G-20 leaders’ summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10.

According to the insiders, the meetings will take place at relatively exotic regions in India that are rarely travelled.

The goal of Jan Bhagidari activities is to connect all blocks and districts with the G-20 in order to spread the message to the general public.

The term “Jan Bhagidari” describes the involvement of citizens in local government. Only when the populace of the country believes that they are vital components of the government can it function effectively. Therefore, it is crucial that citizens participate in governance at all levels.

India will begin its G-20 presidency with festivities at the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland. The Border Lens claimed that G-20 Chief Coordinator Harsh Vardhan Shringla recently spoke with Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphu Rio about opportunities to promote the festival.

Shringla is reaching out to various states to find opportunities to highlight the nation’s cultural heritage through G-20 events, adhering to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s advice to not limit G-20 to major urban cities and to use the opportunity to display India’s rich and diverse cultural landscape. The state of Nagaland has the chance to highlight its cultural diversity, originality, and tourism potential at the G-20 meeting in India, according to Shringla.

Previously, for the year 2021, Indonesia officially handled the G-20 presidency. Before India assume the G-20 presidency, the G-20 Indonesia took Twitter and said, “The #G20BaliSummit marks the conclusion of the 2022 #G-20Indonesia Presidency. India will serve as the next holder of the G20 Presidency. G20 will continue to move forward to realize a global recovery as well as strong and inclusive growth under India’s G20 Presidency.”

One Earth. One Family. One Future is now the slogan shown for India on the G20.org website. The G-20 Indonesia identity is still active on Twitter but it will soon change as India assumes the presidency.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the G-20 Presidency of India’s logo, theme and website earlier this month via video conference. The lotus in the emblem represents India’s ancient culture, belief and way of thinking.

The Prime Minister stated that the Adwait philosophy which emphasises the interconnectedness of all living things will be a tool for resolving today’s conflicts.

This logo and theme represent many key messages from India. “Message of Buddha for freedom from war, Mahatma Gandhi’s solutions in the face of violence, through G-20, India is giving them a new height”, he said.

The Prime Minister noted that chaos and crisis are present at the same time as India’s G-20 presidency. He claimed that conflicts, economic uncertainty and the aftereffects of a disruptive once-in-a-century global pandemic are all currently plaguing the world.
