India’s Longest Train, Vivek Express, To Run Twice Weekly

Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Saturday announced that the Vivek Express, which travels the lengthiest rail route in India, will now run twice a week.

An NFR official has announced that starting on November 22, the Vivek Express, which connects Dibrugarh in Assam with Kanyakumari at the southernmost point of Tamil Nadu, will operate twice weekly.

The NFR announcement states that the train number 15906 Dibrugarh – Kanyakumari Vivek Express, which formerly ran every Saturday, would now also run on Tuesdays.

Moreover, the statement further added that beginning on November 27, the Thursday-only Train No. 15905 from Kanyakumari to Dibrugarh will also run on Sundays.

It should be noted that the 4,189-kilometer-long Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express was officially inaugurated on November 19, 2011. It travels through nine Indian states during its more than 80-hour journey.
