India’s National Cinema Day On Sep 16, Movie Tickets At Rs 75 For A Day| Check Details
Guwahati: All movie tickets would be offered for Rs 75 for a day as part of the Multiplex Association of India’s (MIA) and cinemas all around the nation’s commemoration of September 16 as National Cinema Day.
This occurs shortly after American cinema theatres chose to observe September 3 as National Cinema Day and to offer movie tickets for as little as USD 3.
This will be welcome news for individuals who enjoy watching movies on large screens but must pay between Rs 200 and Rs 300 each ticket, with tickets going for as little as Rs 75 on the day.
In order to celebrate the successful reopening of cinemas following the Covid-19-induced restrictions, theatre owners and associations are hoping to show their appreciation for the loyal moviegoers with this gesture.
Cinema theatres want to extend an invitation to those who have not yet begun visiting movie theatres to see films following the relaxation of all limitations as the epidemic recedes.
More than 4,000 participating theatres will provide the special one-day price.
Fans will also have the opportunity to see Brahmastra, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, at a discounted price that day. Tickets for the film, which is set for release on September 9, will be available for purchase at regular prices for a week prior to the special one-day-only discounted price.
Will tickets really be available at Rs 75?
Though cinema halls across India will charge Rs 75 for a ticket for any film on that day, online third-party applications will be able to levy additional charges.
As such, in order to avail the absolute low price of Rs 75, customers will have to queue up at the counters in the old-fashioned way.
History of National Cinema Day
The unique gesture has been put forward with the intention to remind people of the fun of going to cinemas. If it turns out to be a fun occasion, it could become an annual celebratory event like Black Friday.
It may be noted that the pandemic and the popularity of streaming platforms have affected the movie and theatre businesses.
However, the recent success of films like Tom Cruise starrer Top Gun: Maverick, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Jurassic World Dominion, Minions: The Rise of Gru, and Thor: Love and Thunder have given renewed hopes to theatre owners.
