India’s Parul Chaudhary bags gold in women’s 5000m at Asian Games

Guwahati, 3rd October: India celebrated a spectacular triumph in the women’s 5000m final as Parul Chaudhary’s unwavering determination led her to claim the cherished GOLD medal at the Asian Games 2023. Simultaneously, Assam’s boxing sensation, Lovlina Borgohain, showcased the epitome of sportsmanship by advancing to the finals of the women’s 75 kg boxing event on October 3. Lovlina, an Olympic medalist, demonstrated exceptional skill and determination by defeating Thailand’s Baison Maneekon in a thrilling bout.

With this remarkable victory, Lovlina not only earned a spot in the finals but also guaranteed India either Gold or Silver medal, contributing to the nation’s growing medal count at the Asian Games. In another memorable performance, 19-year-old Preeti Pawar made a significant impact despite facing a formidable opponent. Although challenged, Preeti Pawar had already secured a well-deserved bronze medal and an Olympic quota by reaching the semi-finals.
