India’s Young Squad Kicks Off Training at Lord’s Ahead of England Test Series
Sports: The Indian cricket team, led by their new captain Shubman Gill, has begun preparations for the highly anticipated five-match Test series against England with a high-intensity training session at Lord’s on June 8. The series is set to start on June 20 at Headingley in Leeds.
The five-match series will see the teams face off at the following venues ¹ ²:
– 1st Test: June 20-24, Headingley, Leeds
– 2nd Test: July 2-6, Edgbaston, Birmingham
– 3rd Test: July 10-14, Lord’s Cricket Ground, London
– 4th Test: July 23-27, Old Trafford, Manchester
– 5th Test: July 31-August 4, Kennington Oval, London
Gill, India’s 37th Test captain, is leading a relatively young side that includes experienced players like Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, and pace quartet Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Arshdeep Singh. Under the guidance of head coach Gautam Gambhir, the team is eyeing their first Test series win in England since 2007.
Some India A players, including those from the main squad, are already gaining experience in English conditions by participating in a Test match against England Lions in Northampton. This will help them adapt to the local climate and conditions, potentially giving them an edge in the upcoming series.
