IndiGo Fined Rs 1 Lakh by DGCA for Multiple Tail Strikes in Six Months

National Desk, 28th July: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) made a significant move on Friday by imposing a fine of Rs 1 lakh on IndiGo, a major airline in India, in response to four tail strikes that occurred within a span of six months.

According to reports, the DGCA conducted a thorough audit of the incidents and identified deficiencies in IndiGo’s training and engineering procedures, leading to the regulatory body’s decision to impose the penalty.

Tail strikes are considered serious incidents in aviation and occur when an aircraft’s tail unintentionally strikes the runway or another object during takeoff or landing. Such incidents can potentially compromise the safety and structural integrity of the aircraft.

The fine levied by the DGCA serves as a stern warning to the airline and highlights the importance of adhering to strict safety protocols and training standards in the aviation industry.

Further details and specific findings from the DGCA’s audit are yet to be disclosed, and industry experts will closely monitor any corrective actions taken by IndiGo in response to the incident.

Aviation safety remains a top priority for regulatory authorities, airlines, and passengers alike. As investigations continue and lessons are learned from these incidents, the aim is to ensure safer skies and prevent any compromise to the well-being of travelers and crew members.
