Indonesia : 5.6-magnitude Earthquake Claimed 310 lives
Guwahati: On Friday, it’s reported that 310 people had died as a result of the 5.6-magnitude earthquake that struck Indonesia’s West Java Province.
According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Cianjur district of West Java at approximately 12:21 p.m. local time on Monday at a depth of 10 kilometres (6.2 miles), causing buildings to fall.
About 75 kilometres (45 miles) southeast of the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, the earthquake’s epicentre was close to the town of Cianjur in West Java’s mountainous region. There are about 2.5 million people living in the area.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who visited the earthquake-affected districts on Tuesday, said the government would offer homeowners of severely damaged homes compensation of up to around USD 3,200 per person, according to CNN.
