INS Imphal: Manipur Takes Centre Stage with First Visakhapatnam-class Warship
Northeast Desk, 27th November: In a significant milestone for Manipur and the entire North-Eastern region of India, Chief Minister N Biren Singh announced the special significance of INS Imphal, the first Visakhapatnam-Class warship named after the capital of the state.
Taking to microblogging site X, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for supporting the advancement of India’s defence capabilities. He termed it a proud moment for the people of Manipur and the North-East as the nation honors them with such a progressive initiative under the visionary leadership of PM Modi.
The announcement preceded Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s revelation that he would attend the Crest Unveiling of INS Imphal on November 28 in New Delhi. Singh highlighted the historical importance of the guided missile stealth destroyer, emphasizing its role as the first capital warship named after a city in the North-Eastern region of India.
The event marks a significant naval milestone and showcases the commitment to bolstering India’s defence capabilities.
