Guwahati: One Instagram influencer have been arrested by Guwahati Police on Monday after reportedly making communally offensive words in a live Instagram chat.
The influencer identified as Nadeem. He was arrested from Rajasthan.
Last Monday, the city police were made aware of a viral audio clip of an Instagram influencer and his friend advocating for the identification, rapping, and death of Hindus.
An audio clip of Instagram Influencer Nadeem and another woman from Assam went popular on social media networks last Wednesday. Both were heard making extremely derogatory words regarding Hindus, Hinduism, and Hindu Gods during the chat.
A charge has been filed against Nadeem in the All-Women Police Station here,
According to reports, the woman who participated in the live chat stated that she was receiving rape and death threats through her social media accounts. She also stated that if the situation became too much for her, she would commit suicide.
Nadeem reportedly was altering their IDs to avoid detection.
Sharing the news on Twitter, Guwahati Police wrote, “No one can escape the law. Accused Nadeem, who made communally insulting statements in a live Instagram chat, is in our custody now, with @PoliceRajasthan assistance He is being brought to Guwahati, to be prosecuted in All Women PS Case no. 25/2022.”
