International Paragliding Championship Takes Flight in Mizoram

Serchhip, Mizoram: A major international paragliding event kicked off in central Mizoram’s Serchhip district on December 10th. The four-day championship and airsports festival, which runs until December 13th, aims to boost adventure tourism in the state.

Serchhip Deputy Commissioner Paul L Khuma, who also chairs the organizing committee, inaugurated the event. The championship features 30 participants, including 17 Indian pilots, eight of whom are from Mizoram. International pilots from South Korea, Nepal, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia are also competing.

The closing ceremony is scheduled for December 13th at Zawlpui landing site, with Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma as the chief guest.

In addition to the aerial competition, the festival offers a range of activities at Zawlpui, including cultural showcases and a fish angling event. Visitors can also experience tandem paragliding flights after the championship concludes.

Deputy Commissioner Khuma expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of the Mizoram Government and the Mizoram Aerosports Association (MASA). He hopes the event will provide a memorable experience for all participating pilots.
