Guwahati: The Bongaigaon Police have said that they have busted an interstate gun racket and have apprehended two persons along.
The police speaking about the operation said that they had specific input about a possible gun trade at a local Dhaba (restaurant) in the Rakhaldubi area. Based on this input, the police initiated an operation. During this operation, the police tracked down a person named Anup Kumar Das, a resident of Bijni.
On primary interrogation, the police team found the person to be allegedly involved in an inter-state gun-running racket. The police also said that they had recovered two country-made pistols from his possession. On further interrogation, the police team found the involvement of another person from Bijni named Dipankar Sarkar.
The accused claimed to have brought in the pistols from Cooch Behar.
As of now, investigation related to the entire case is on, and police are trying to track down more persons informed in the racket.
