IPL Auction: England All-Rounder Sam Curran Sold to Punjab Kings

Guwahati: Sam Curran, an all-rounder for England, was acquired by Punjab Kings on Friday for a record sum of Rs 18.50 crore in preparation for the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

In 2021, Rajasthan Royals purchased Chris Morris for Rs 16.25 crore.

Sam Curran paid INR 2 crore to enter. The first team to pursue Curran was Mumbai Indians (MI). And the bidding battle between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and MI starts. Both tables raise their paddles frantically as the bid rises to Rs 6 crore.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) and MI exchanged bids back and forth. RR took the lead once more at Rs 11.5 crore. MI lost power.

Then Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a bid of Rs. 11.75 crore. Stephen Fleming and MS Dhoni returned to Curran to take on any position at CSK.

Sam Curran’s first IPL franchise was in Punjab, which received a bid from PBKS as well.

The bid swiftly surpassed Rs 15 crore with CSK gaining the lead at Rs 15.25 crore.

PBKS upped the paddle in response to the ongoing bidding competition.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) entered the market at Rs 15.75 crore. They must fill the space the size of Holder. The bid totaled 16.5 crore rupees. The largest bid for an IPL player has ever been placed on Sam Curran.

Curran was this year’s second-highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup with a total of 13 kills and his best bowling numbers of 5/10.

The 24-year-old is also a capable batsman with 1,731 T20I runs in 109 innings at an average of 20.85 and nine fifties.
