IPL betting in Assam: Six bookies arrested from Nagaon
Guwahati: An Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 cricket tournament betting racket has been busted and arrested six alleged bookies for betting in the Nagaon district of Assam on Thursday.
Based on information, police officials conducted a raid in Katimari Grant area and arrested the six accused who were involved in betting.
According to reports, the unlawful activity was carried out at the residence of Abdul Rahman, who has also been arrested.
Reportedly, one of the arrested accused is a member of Nagaon’s special prison staff.
Meanwhile, police officials have also seized a television, betting sheets, and mobile phones. In addition, about Rs 2 lakh in cash was recovered from their possession.
