IPS Officer Anand Mishra to Meet RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat in Majuli: A Convergence of Influential Figures

Guwahati, 28th December: Anticipated on December 28th, 2023, is a significant meeting between Anand Mishra, a former IPS officer from Assam, and Mohan Bhagwat, the Chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), in Majuli. Known as “Assam’s Singham” for his dynamic policing approach, Mishra recently resigned as the Superintendent of Police in Lakhimpur district to pursue social work.

His resignation, effective January 16, 2024, stemmed from a desire to pursue personal and social goals beyond his IPS duties, particularly after his involvement in a Special Investigation Team probing violence in Manipur.

Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghchalak of RSS since 2009, arrived in Dibrugarh for a two-day visit to Majuli, where he plans to meet Satradhikars. The meeting between Mishra and Bhagwat is expected tonight or tomorrow morning, with Mishra seeking blessings from the RSS chief.

This encounter coincides with speculation about Mishra considering a political career. Sources hint at a potential BJP affiliation in his home state of Bihar, possibly leading to participation in the upcoming general election.

The meeting symbolizes a convergence of two influential figures—Mishra, a respected law enforcement officer turned social worker, and Bhagwat, a prominent leader of India’s largest voluntary non-governmental organization. As Assam Police comprises 28 reserved battalions, with the current DGP being Shri Gyanendra Pratap Singh, Mishra’s transition adds an intriguing chapter to his evolving journey.
