Iran: 5 Killed, 10 Injured In Shooting On Protestors

Guwahati: As many as five people were killed and ten were injured after unidentified “terrorist elements” fired shots at demonstrators and security forces in Iran’s Khuzestan province on Wednesday.

Reports state that armed individuals travelling on two motorbikes pulled up to a market area in the city of Izeh and started firing on the demonstrators and security personnel there.

At least five fatalities and ten injuries have been officially reported.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the reported attack.

At least 13 people were killed earlier on October 26 in an armed attack on the Shah Cheragh mausoleum in Shiraz which was claimed by the Islamic State organisation.

Since Mahsa Amini’s murder on September 16, three days after her detention by the morality police for allegedly breaking Iran’s dress code for women, the country has been engulfed in protests which the authorities have dubbed “riots.”

Over the past two months, there have been many clashes that killed dozens of people, mainly protesters, but also members of the security forces.
