ISI-Backed Drone Busts by Punjab Police

Guwahati: Director General of Police (DGP) for Punjab Gaurav Yadav in a official statement stated on Sunday that Punjab Police has dismantled the drone-based Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) terror unit and captured two of its members in the Chamkaur Sahib region.

The terror module is allegedly being run by Canadian terrorist/gangster Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dala, a close friend of KTF’s Canadian leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Veeja Singh alias Gagan alias Gaggu, a resident of Chand Nava village in Moga, and Ranjodh Singh alias Jyoti, a resident of Ganji Gulab Singh Wala village in Moga, have been named as the suspects. A 0.32 bore handgun and a 0.22 bore revolver, along with 21 live rounds, were also found in their possession by the police.

The news came four days after police found an AK-47 assault rifle in the paddy fields of the village of Arifke in Ferozepur, along with two magazines and 60 live bullets.

According to police investigations, the package was dropped by a drone under the control of terrorist/gangster Arsh Dala with the intention that Veeja Singh and Ranjodh Singh would fetch it from the village of Arifke.

Following the recovery of the firearms from Ferozepur, an intelligence-led operation was initiated statewide to apprehend the suspects, according to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. In response to information, Rupnagar Police were able to apprehend both of the accused during the Saturday and Sunday night intervals in the Chamkaur Sahib area.

According to DGP Yadav, the arrested individuals confessed that they had gone to Arifke village to fetch this consignment on the orders of terrorist/gangster Arsh Dala but were unable to locate it. Later, the Ferozepur Police were able to locate it thanks to information from a field owner.

According to the DGP, “both accused have also admitted to having received a small number of drone-based weapon consignments to deliver them at specific locations as directed by Canada-based terrorist/gangster Arsh Dala, which was to be used further for major target killings to disturb communal harmony of the state.”

At the Chamkaur Sahib police station, a FIR has been filed in accordance with sections 25 of the Arms Act and 153A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

More investigations are being conducted, and more arrests are anticipated soon, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Garg of Rupnagar.

Arsh Dala, a native of Dala village in Moga who now resides in Canada and was once a known gangster turned terrorist involved in several criminal actions in Punjab and abroad, is the most wanted man by the Punjab Police, according to the police.

His involvement in numerous targeted assassinations that occurred in Punjab, a border state, as well as cases of supplying terrorist gear like RDX, IEDs, AK-47s, and other weaponry and ammunition to modules in the state after getting them imported from Pakistan, according to police, also emerged.

Arsh Dala is now being extradited from Canada, according to DGP Gaurav Yadav, and will soon be taken to India. It should be noted that Arsh Dala has previously been the subject of a Red Corner Notice as of May 2022.
