ISKCON Temple in Bangladesh Set Ablaze, Idols Destroyed
A devastating act of vandalism targeted the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Namhatta Centre in Dhaka district early Saturday morning. The temple, along with its precious deities, was engulfed in flames, causing significant damage.
Radharamn Das, Vice President of ISKCON Kolkata, strongly condemned the attack, labeling it a deliberate assault on the Vaishnavite community. The fire, he revealed, completely destroyed the idols of Sri Sri Laxmi Narayan and other sacred artifacts within the temple.
Taking to social media, Das expressed his outrage, stating, “The ISKCON Namhatta Centre in Dhaka has been burned down. Between 2-3 AM, miscreants torched the Shri Shri Radha Krishna Temple and the Shri Shri Mahabhagya Lakshmi Narayan Temple at Dhour village, under Turag Police Station in Dhaka district.”
This incident has sparked widespread concern about the safety and security of minority religious communities and their places of worship in Bangladesh. ISKCON has called upon the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, bring the perpetrators to justice, and take stringent measures to prevent such attacks in the future.
