ITI Balinong in Arunachal Pradesh Threatened by Severe Flooding

Northeast Desk, 9th July: Relentless rainfall in Arunachal Pradesh has triggered severe flooding, posing an existential threat to ITI Balinong located along the banks of the Burhi Dehing River. The institute, already vulnerable due to annual soil erosion and rising water levels, now faces an escalating crisis.

  • Residential Quarters: One Type 3 residential quarter has already been washed away, with two Type 2 quarters on the brink of collapse.
  • Hostel and Barracks: The boys’ hostel and three bachelor’s barracks, situated near the riverbank, are under serious risk of inundation.

The entire ITI compound is perilously close to submersion and further erosion, necessitating immediate and decisive action from authorities to avert additional damage and ensure the safety of students and staff.

Authorities are urged to swiftly implement preventive measures to stabilize the institute’s infrastructure and protect against further flooding impacts. The safety and well-being of all individuals residing and studying at ITI Balinong depend on prompt intervention and effective mitigation strategies.
