Jacqueline Fernandez Tried to Flee from India, Says ED

Guwahati: Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez sought to flee India when she was being investigated in a Rs. 200 crore extortion case involving imprisoned conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.

This was informed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to Delhi court on Saturday.

The court directed the ED to provide it when Jacqueline’s lawyers informed the court during the hearing of her normal bail application that she had not received any paperwork from the ED.

A new hearing will take place in the matter on November 10.

The ED opposing Jacqueline’s bail application today alleged in its reply to the court that she tampered with evidence during investigation by deleting data from her mobile phone.

Additionally, the investigation agency said in the court record that she sought to flee India and did not cooperate with the investigators. Her name was on the “lookout circular,” a list of persons who should not be allowed to leave the country, thus she was unable to do so.

Sukesh Chandrashekhar, a prisoner in Delhi, was charged with defrauding a number of people, including Aditi Singh, the wife of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh.

The investigation agency repeatedly called Jacqueline for questioning in relation to the extortion issue.

Nora Fatehi was also summoned by the ED in connection with the case.
