Jal Jeevan Mission Workers Arrested for Smuggling Ganja in Assam

Guwahati, 17th July: In a significant operation, local police in Gohpur, Assam, arrested four individuals involved in Jal Jeevan Mission construction work for smuggling ganja. The operation led to the seizure of approximately 7 kilograms and 604 grams of the illicit substance.

The arrests occurred in North Garigaon, following a coordinated effort by IC Rajdeep Newar of Garigaon police station and Sanjay Saikia of Halem police station.

The suspects, engaged in construction activities for the Jal Jeevan Mission—a government initiative aimed at providing safe drinking water to rural households—were found to be simultaneously involved in drug trafficking.
