James Anderson becomes the first pacer to take 600 wickets in tests

England’s frontline pacer James Anderson became the first fast bowler in the history the game to take 600 Test wickets. Anderson dismissed Pakistan’s captain Azhar Ali on the fifth day of the third and final Test between the two teams at The Ageas Bowl, Southampton.

Anderson had taken a five-wicket haul in Pakistan’s first innings, and he returned in their second innings to pick Abid Ali and Azhar Ali. Only Muttiah Muralitharan, Shane Warne and Anil Kumble had taken 600 wickets in the test format.

James Anderson  made his test debut in 2003 against Zimbabwe, had become the highest wicket-taker among the fast bowlers in 2018, when he dismissed Mohammed Shami against India at the Oval to overtake Glenn McGrath’s tally of 563 Test wickets.
