Japanese Girl Harassment Case: 3 held for molesting her
Guwahati: Following the release of a video showing a Japanese woman being groped and harassed by a group of men in Delhi while celebrating Holi, Delhi Police announced they had written to the Japanese embassy to ask for assistance in determining the woman’s identity. The DCP informed PTI that after being contacted by the Japanese embassy, they stated that they were unaware of any such incident.
The woman is a Japanese tourist who was staying in Paharganj in the national capital and has already departed for Bangladesh, according to the police.
According to police, three boys including a juvenile have been detained and the suspects have admitted to the incident. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Sanjay Kumar Sain stated that the video is being examined to identify the specifics.
“No complaint or call relating to any kind of misbehaviour with any foreigner has been received at Paharganj police station. An email has been sent to the Japanese embassy requesting help in establishing the identity of the girl or any other details about the incident,” police said.
A group of men were shown in the social media video smearing colour on a woman, who appeared uneasy in their presence. One of the men is also seen breaking an egg on her head in the image.
According to police, the youths arrested will be held accountable under the DP Act. All three of them live in the adjoining Paharganj area. Police stated that any future legal action will be taken on the grounds and in compliance with the girl’s allegation, if any.
