Japanese Speaker’s Assam Visit Hailed as Milestone for International Ties

Guwahati: The ongoing visit of Japanese Speaker Fukushiro Nukaga and his delegation to Assam has been warmly received by Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, Dr. Numal Momin, who characterized the event as a significant milestone in fostering international cooperation and propelling regional development.

During a three-day consultative event attended by governors and other dignitaries, Dr. Momin emphasized the profound impact this visit is expected to have on strengthening the bonds between India and Japan, particularly within the Northeast region.

He articulated that the visit transcends mere diplomatic formalities, representing a powerful symbol of cultural affinity and a platform for future collaborative endeavors.

The Japanese delegation’s itinerary includes a crucial meeting with Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, where discussions will center on pivotal areas such as human resource development, industrial investment, and strategic business collaborations.

Dr. Momin lauded the ‘Advantage Assam’ initiative, spearheaded by Chief Minister Sarma, acknowledging its role in garnering global interest and establishing a robust foundation for Assam’s industrial advancement.

He further stated that under the Chief Minister’s forward-thinking leadership, Assam is poised to ascend to the ranks of India’s top five developed states.

Drawing attention to the shared cultural ethos between the Japanese people and Assam’s indigenous communities, Dr. Momin expressed optimism that the state would host more such international delegations, thereby accelerating economic expansion and deepening cultural exchanges.
