Jehadi Linkman Arrested in Assam’s Morigaon
Guwahati: Continuing its crackdown against the Jehadi modules active in the state, Assam Police arrested one person for alleged links with a jehadi group.
The jehadi linkman has been identified as Mufti Mustafa.
According to reports, Mustafa is the head of Jamiulhuda Madrassa in Moirabari.
Reportedly, Mustafa has been arrested from Moirabari in Morigaon district
He has been arrested after conducting search operations by the Morigaon Police at the Madrassa and other residences in Moirabari on Wednesday night.
The police seized various documents including a bank passbook and mobile phones from Mustafa’s possession. Police have also sealed off the Madrassa.
The villagers claim that they are unaware of the cause of Mustafa’s arrest.
One of the locals said that search operations were carried out at Mustafa’s home and the Madrassa for at least two hours on Wednesday evening by the Morigaon Police, the army, and other officials. The police picked up Mustafa. We don’t know why he was taken into custody.
The police are conducting further investigation in regard to the incident.
Meanwhile, speaking on the issue, Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta said, “Militant organisations are progressively attempting to strike Assam. They are coming into the country from Bangladesh. They are trying to provoke Muslim youths of the state by fostering ‘Hadith’ education to them.”
