Jharkhand Assembly Committee Engages in Legislative Exchange with Arunachal Counterparts

Itanagar — In a significant gesture of inter-state democratic collaboration, the Committee on Food, Public Distribution, and Consumer Affairs of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, currently on a three-day study tour of Arunachal Pradesh, held a detailed engagement with Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte Tutsa at the Assembly Secretariat in Itanagar.

Led by Chairman Vikas Kumar Munda, the visiting delegation included legislators Louis Marandi and Jairam Kumar Mahto. The interaction focused on key aspects of legislative functioning, with in-depth discussions around procedural frameworks, the integration of digital technologies in Assembly operations, and efforts toward enhancing transparency and institutional efficiency. Speaker Tesam Pongte, joined by Deputy Speaker Kardo Nyigyor and Secretary Tadar Meena, welcomed the delegates and presented them with traditional mementos as a symbol of respect and fraternity between the two legislative bodies.

During their visit, the Jharkhand delegation explored various facilities within the Assembly premises — including the Main Assembly Hall, Assembly Museum, and Library — to observe firsthand the administrative workings and structural support mechanisms behind Arunachal’s legislative process. Interactions with officers and Secretariat staff offered the visitors valuable insights into the operational ethos of the northeastern state’s legislature.

The delegation is also scheduled to visit the picturesque Ziro Valley, providing an opportunity to experience the cultural and environmental richness of Arunachal Pradesh, complementing their institutional exposure with a broader socio-cultural perspective.

The visit underscores the importance of such inter-legislative exchanges in reinforcing India’s federal spirit. By sharing best practices and building mutual understanding, such initiatives promote cooperative learning and highlight the collective pursuit of stronger, technology-driven governance across state assemblies. Arunachal Pradesh’s readiness to showcase its advancements reflects its commitment to openness, modernization, and collaborative growth within India’s democratic framework.
