Jharkhand: Man beaten up, forced to lick spit in Dhanbad

Guwahati: Once again a shameful case has come to the fore from Dhanbad, Jharkhand where the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party first beat up a person badly and then forced him to lick his spit.

On Friday, a group of BJP workers and leaders allegedly assaulted a young man, forcing him to lick his spit and shout “Jai Sri Ram.” Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed his displeasure with the occurrence and requested district officials to investigate it and prosecute those responsibly.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, a young man from a minority community is seen being beaten up, forced to do sit-ups, lick his spit, and chant ‘Jai Sri Ram’ and ‘BJP zindabad’, allegedly by a group of BJP leaders and workers who were on a dharna near the Combined Building in Dhanbad town, protesting against security lapses during the Prime Minister’s visit to Punjab

During this, slogans of Jai Shri Ram were made to him. The victim was reportedly a Muslim. Chief Minister Hemant Soren has ordered an inquiry after its video went viral on Twitter.

Taking the matter seriously, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has ordered an immediate inquiry and directed action against the accused.

CM Hemant Soren asked the DC of Dhanbad to investigate the whole matter and give a report. There is no place for animosity in this state of the people of Jharkhand living in peace.
