Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari sworn in as 21st Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court
Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari has sworn as 21st Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court at Raj Bhawan in a glittering function. Governor Ganga Prasad administered the oath of affirmation and secrecy of the office of the Chief Justice of Sikkim High Court.
Chief Secretary S C Gupta read out the notification of transfer of Chief Justice Maheswari from Andra Pradesh High Court to Sikkim High Court. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, cabinet ministers and Judges of the High Court of Sikkim and seniormost officials of the state Government and High Court Registry, members of the bar and bench were also present in the swearing-in-ceremony.
Chief Justice Madheshwari took charge of his incumbent Chief Justice Arup Kumar Goswami, who was transferred to Andra Pradesh High Court. Chief Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheswari was born on 29 June, 1961 in a small village of Joura District of Morena. He was a practicing lawyer in Gwalior before he was elevated to the bench. He has served in Hadhya Pradesh High Court till September 2019 and was transferred and elevated to Chief Justice of Andra Pradesh High Court till last month.
