J&K: 2 Al Badr killed in Police encounter in Pulwama
Pulwama: At least two Al-Badr militants were killed in a police encounter in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.
According to reports, security personnel conducted a cordon and search operation in Pulwama, south Kashmir, on Wednesday after receiving information regarding the presence of militants there.
Reports claimed that the search operation devolved into a shootout as the terrorists who were hiding opened fire on the forces who replied.
The operation was halted after the initial firing to evacuate civilians, according to the official.
Meanwhile, after the people were evacuated, the exchange of fire resumed, resulting in the death of a militant and the injury of a soldier on Wednesday night, he claimed. Another militant was killed during the night as the firing continued, according to the official.
It may be mentioned that Vijay Kumar, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Kashmir, claimed the two ultras belonged to the Al-Badr group.
