Guwahati: In a shocking incident, a journalist was physically attacked by a home guard in Cachar district of Assam.
The incident occurred at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).
The victim journalist has been identified as Biswa Kalyan Purkayastha.
He has sustained severe injuries after being brutally attacked by the home guard.
According to reports, Purkayastha was beaten by the home guard when he entered the hospital ward to bring food to his sister-in-law, who was being treated there at the time.
The incident took place while the home guard identified as S Dev was on duty.
Meanwhile, the journalists’ association has demanded strict action to be taken against the home guard.
