Journalists’ Forum Assam Mourns Loss of Two Assamese Scribes

Guwahati, 18th September: Journalists’ Forum Assam (JFA) has expressed deep sorrow over the sudden and untimely deaths of two Assamese journalists within two weeks and offers prayers for their eternal peace.

Dhurva Saikia, who worked for Ajir Asom, Nagaland Post, and other publications and was known for advocating national causes, passed away on September 17, 2023, while receiving treatment at Gauhati Medical College Hospital. He was 60 years old and is survived by his younger brother, Debojit Saikia (Advocate General of Assam), and two sisters.

Deepangshu Dev Sarmah, the editor of Mobility Outlook, a comprehensive media platform covering the mobility industry in India, died in Dubai on September 3 while en route to Germany for an assignment. Originally from Digboi, Dev Sarmah, 44, had previously worked for NE Sun, Auto Tech Review, and Auto Monitor in New Delhi. He is survived by his wife and their only daughter.

The Journalists’ Forum Assam hopes that the families of these two journalists can find the strength to cope with these irreplaceable losses during this difficult time.
