Justice D Krishnakumar Takes Oath as Chief Justice of Manipur High Court
Imphal– Justice D. Krishnakumar has officially assumed office as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur. The oath of office was administered by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya during a formal ceremony held today at the Darbar Hall of Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
Justice Krishnakumar’s appointment, effective November 20, 2024, follows a notification issued by the President of India. He succeeds Justice Siddharth Mridul, who recently retired from the position.
Previously serving as a judge in the Madras High Court, Justice Krishnakumar brings with him extensive judicial experience. His tenure in Manipur is anticipated to focus on reinforcing judicial efficiency and accessibility in the state.
The swearing-in ceremony witnessed the presence of a host of dignitaries, including Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th. Satyabrata Singh, and Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leishemba. Prominent members of the judiciary, including judges from the High Court of Manipur and subordinate courts, as well as senior civil, police, and military officials, were also in attendance.
Justice Krishnakumar expressed his commitment to upholding justice and addressing pressing legal issues in the state. His appointment is seen as a pivotal moment for the judiciary in Manipur, particularly at a time when the state continues to grapple with complex legal and social challenges.
