Kamrup Metro Schools to Operate on Revised Timings Amid Heatwave

Guwahati: In response to the escalating temperatures and ongoing heatwave, the District Commissioner of Kamrup Metro has announced revised school hours for all government, provincialised, and private schools in the region. The decision aims to mitigate the impact of the scorching heat on students and staff.

The revised timings, effective from June 11, 2025, to June 16, 2025, are as follows:

– Lower Primary (L.P.) Schools: 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM

– Middle Elementary (M.E.) Schools: 7:30 AM to 12:00 noon

– Higher Secondary (H.S.) Schools: 7:30 AM to 12:30 PM

To protect students from the adverse effects of high temperatures, schools have been instructed to conduct morning assemblies indoors or in shaded areas and prohibit outdoor activities during this period. Additionally, schools must implement multiple water breaks, ensure adequate drinking water facilities, and maintain well-ventilated classrooms with operational fans.

The district authorities’ prompt response reflects a proactive approach to managing health risks associated with high temperatures. By adjusting school schedules and activities, they aim to minimise disruption while prioritising the welfare of students and staff in the Kamrup Metro district.
