Kamrup Metropolitan Schools Adjust Schedule Amid Intense Heat Wave

Guwahati, 2nd August: In response to the unprecedented heat wave and soaring temperatures, all private and government schools within the Kamrup Metropolitan district have implemented adjusted schedules to safeguard the well-being of students.

An official notification from the Office of the District Elementary Education Officer declared that school hours will be halved for both state-run and private schools under Kamrup (M) district.

The notification, issued on Wednesday, highlighted the urgency of the situation, citing the continuous rise in mercury levels and scorching heat prevailing in the region.

Effective from Thursday, August 3, 2023, the revised school timings are as follows:

  • Lower Primary (LP) Schools: 7:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon
  • Middle English (ME) Schools: 7:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M
  • High Schools/ Higher Secondary Schools: 7:30 A.M. to 01:00 P.M

The notification further instructed schools to conduct morning assemblies inside classrooms or shaded areas to shield students from the scorching sun.

The rescheduled school timings will be in effect from August 3, 2023, until August 15, 2023.

Educational authorities in Kamrup Metropolitan district are taking proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students during this extreme heatwave, and they are closely monitoring the situation to address any further concerns.
