Karnataka BJP MLA’s Son Caught While Accepting Bribe

Guwahati: Prashanth Madal the son of BJP lawmaker Madal Virupakshappa has been arrested for allegedly accepting a Rs 40 lakh bribe in his father’s office in advance of the Karnataka Assembly elections.

The accused’s house was also searched and undeclared cash worth Rs 6.10 crore was found there.

The Lokayukta police arrested V Prashant Madal, a senior accountant for the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), after he collected money from a stranger at the office on Crescent Road of his father, Channagiri BJP Legislator K Madal Virupakshappa.

According to the cops, the initial demand was for Rs 81 lakh of which the man gave them Rs 40 lakh.

After the searches, Madal Virupakshappa the former chairman of KSDL resigned and is presently missing.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai commented on the arrest of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lawmaker Madal Virupakshappa’s son, Prashanth Madal, for allegedly taking a Rs 40 lakh bribe “Lokayukta raided the son of a legislator. What I can say is that the objective for reactivating the Lokayukta is to combat corruption in the state; without the Lokayukta, many such instances would have been discovered and closed during the Congress administration.”
