Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai Tests COVID19 Positive
Guwahati: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai revealed on Saturday that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and had very minor symptoms therefore he postponed his travel to New Delhi.
The chief minister has isolated himself at home.
“I have tested positive for Covid-19 with mild symptoms and have isolated myself at home. Those who came in touch with me in the last few days, kindly isolate yourself and get yourself tested. My trip to Delhi stands cancelled,” Bommai tweeted.
Bommai was scheduled to fly to New Delhi today to attend the third national committee meeting of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” and the governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog, both of which will be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi this evening and the morning of August 7, respectively.
According to a PTI report, he was also scheduled to meet with the national leadership of the BJP and review recent events in the state and preparations for the 2023 assembly elections.
The State High-Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC), the opening of the annual Independence Day flower show at Lalbagh’s glass house, the Annual General Meeting of Bangalore Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BCIC), and other events were among the gatherings that Bommai attended throughout the day on Friday.
