Kaziranga National Park Opens for the 2023-24 Tourist Season
Guwahati, 15th October: The Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve (KNPTR), a sanctuary renowned for its majestic one-horned rhinoceros population, officially opened its doors for the 2023-24 tourist season on Sunday. The opening ceremonies, graced by the presence of State Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, marked the beginning of another exciting season for nature enthusiasts.
Various activities are on offer this season, including river tourism at Bhomoraguri beat office, the popular Kaziranga cycling experience starting from the Kohora Convention Centre, invigorating Jeep safaris, and an innovative venture into women-led environmental tourism at Mihimukh.
This year’s opening follows the closure of Elephant Safari and Jeep Safari in May 2023 by the Divisional Forest Officer of the Eastern Assam Wildlife Division, as part of the 2022-23 tourist season’s conclusion. As part of the preparations for the 2023-24 season, the Assam Forest Department confirms that Elephant Safari will remain closed from May 1, 2023, with Jeep Safari resuming on May 16, 2023.
Nature enthusiasts and tourists from around the world are once again welcomed to explore the stunning biodiversity of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve for what promises to be another memorable season.
