Kejriwal On Delhi Incident: Charge Offenders With Strict IPC Sections

Guwahati: The chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal stated on Monday that the culprits in the Kanjhawala death case should face the harshest provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Kejriwal continued by saying he spoke with Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and urged him to punish those responsible.

Taking to Twitter Kejriwal said, “Spoke to Hon’ble LG on the Kanjhawala incident. Requested him to take exemplary action against culprits, strictest sections of IPC shud be slapped against them. No leniency shud be shown even if they have high political connections. He assured me that he will take strong action.”

Five people have been detained in connection with the Kanjhawala case, and a 304 A (Death due to carelessness) case has been filed against the culprits, according to a statement made earlier on Monday by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer District) Harendra K Singh.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer District) Harendra K Singh reported on Monday that five people had been detained in connection with the Kanjhawala incident in Delhi, where a 20-year-old woman died on Sunday after being dragged for a few kilometres on her scooter after being hit by a car, according to the police.

Earlier the DCP told, “As per our investigation, it was a fatal accident. All five persons who were present in the car have been arrested. They will be produced before the court today. The postmortem of the deceased woman will be conducted through a board of doctors.”

The police reported on Sunday that a 20-year-old woman was died after being struck by a car and then dragged along the road for a few kilometres while becoming entangled in the wheels.

The girl was in such horrible shape following the incident, according to the authorities, that as she was being carried along, her clothes and even the rear of her body were torn off.

The girl’s body was delivered to the SGM hospital in Mangolpuri, where it was ruled that she had passed away. The body was kept in the hospital mortuary for longer.

The five suspects were apprehended from their homes while the suspected car was also located.
