Guwahati: An abduction attempt was made near St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School in the oil town of Duliajan on Monday morning.
According to reports, a gang of four to five miscreants who arrived at the school in a luxurious car attempted to abduct a fourth-grade girl by grasping and pulling her, but the effort was prevented by locals who were apparently present at the spot.
The teen received minor injuries after a heated tug-of-war between residents and would-be kidnappers.
Reportedly, the alleged kidnappers were able to depart the spot.
The victim was admitted to the Oil India Hospital in Duliajan for better treatment.
Meanwhile, Duliajan police are continuing their investigation into the incident but have yet to uncover any leads.
However, the parents of the victim girl were horrified after the occurrence.
