Kiren Rijiju takes charge as Parliamentary Affairs Minister in Modi 3.0
Northeast Desk, 11th June: In a significant development, Member of Parliament Kiren Rijiju has been appointed as the Union Minister for Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs in the current BJP-led NDA government. Rijiju, who previously held the position of Cabinet Minister for the Ministry of Earth Sciences and the Ministry of Food Processing, now takes on additional responsibilities in the crucial portfolios of Minority Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs.
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs was previously overseen by Pralhad Joshi, making Rijiju’s appointment a noteworthy shift in ministerial roles within the government.
Expressing his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the trust placed in him, Rijiju pledged his commitment to ensuring the smooth functioning of parliament. “I thank PM Modi for entrusting me with this huge responsibility. We will ensure that PM Modi’s wish to run the parliament smoothly by taking everyone along will be fulfilled. We are committed to the job and we will ensure whatever it takes we will reach out to everyone,” Rijiju stated.
Emphasizing the importance of cooperation from all political parties and members of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, Rijiju called for unity and collaboration to achieve the common goal of effective parliamentary proceedings.
With his new dual role, Rijiju is poised to play a pivotal role in steering government initiatives and fostering dialogue and consensus among diverse stakeholders in the legislative arena.
