Kishor Das’s Last Rites To Be Performed In Chennai

Guwahati: The body of Assamese actor Kishor Das, who passed away on Saturday, won’t be brought back to Assam due to Covid-19 rules in place.

A well-known actor from Assam, Kishor Das passed away today in Chennai after a battle with cancer. He was 30 years old.

Das’ funeral services will be place in Chennai as his remains could not be flown into Guwahati. The rituals will take place by today evening.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had communicated with the Tamil Nadu government to arrange for the actor’s body to be returned home. However, it was not possible due to the limitations set in place in light of COVID-19, according to Palashbari lawmaker Hemanga Thakuria.

It needs to be mentioned that Das had been receiving therapy in Guwahati for a while before moving to Chennai in March of last year for more advanced care.

According to reports he also suffered from COVID-19 and died due to its complications.

Kishor Das has appeared in more over 300 music videos with “Turut Turut,” one of his major hits, becoming the Assam state record holder for most views.

Kishor Das has acted in numerous short films and was well-known for his work in TV series like “Bidhata and Bandhun.”

He also won the “Candid Young Achievement Award” in 2019, and “Most Popular Actor 2020-2021” in the Asianet Icon Award.
