Kokrajhar Athletes Shine at India Taekwondo Championship 2024, Secure Four Gold and Two Silver Medals
Guwahati, 30th September: Kokrajhar athletes delivered an outstanding performance at the India Taekwondo Championship 2024, representing Assam with distinction and bringing home four gold and two silver medals. The event, held in Nashik, witnessed fierce competition, but the six-member team from Kokrajhar emerged as a formidable force.
Tanishree Brahma, Dhriti Nath, and Himani Rai stood out with their remarkable performances, each clinching gold in the junior women’s category. Sonamika Brahma added to the gold medal haul by triumphing in the under-53 kg girls’ category. Beijing Swargiary and Prizu Narzary showcased their skills as well, contributing two silver medals to the team’s impressive tally.
The athletes were warmly welcomed and honoured by the Kokrajhar District Taekwondo Association, with general secretary Nikunjoy Mushahary and coach Darshanita Bhorali leading a special celebration to recognize their achievements.
In a further boost to their promising careers, the four gold medalists—Tanishree Brahma, Dhriti Nath, Himani Rai, and Sonamika Brahma—have been selected for an international coaching camp in Hong Kong, China. This opportunity is set to enhance their training and prepare them for future competitions on the global stage.
The achievements of the Kokrajhar athletes have brought pride not only to their district but to the entire state of Assam, marking a milestone in their taekwondo journey.
