Kolkata Man Spends Rs 2.5 lakh On Her Silicone Statue After Wife’s Death Due To Covid

Guwahati: In a heartwarming incident, a 65-year-old man in Kolkata made a silicone statue of his wife, who passed away from COVID in 2021. The construction of the startlingly lifelike statue cost Rs 2.5 lakh.

The 30 kg statue is perched on a sofa Indrani’s favourite area in their VIP Road house. It is decked out in the gold jewellery she preferred to wear while she was still alive and the Assam silk sari she wore to her son’s wedding reception.

Mr Tapas’ wife Indrani died from COVID-19 during the pandemic’s second wave. Subimal Das, the sculptor of this lifelike statue, took more than six months to complete, which was inspired by a lifelike statue of Isckon temple’s founder, AC Bhaktivedanta Swami that the couple saw in Mayapur.

The statue was inspired by the founder of Iskcon Temple.

“A decade ago, we went to the Iskcon temple in Mayapur and couldn’t stop admiring the lifelike statue of the order’s founder, AC Bhaktivedanta Swami,” Sandilya told the media. (Report)

“It was then that Indrani told me of her desire for a similar statue (of hers) if she died before me,” he added.
