Kuki Community Protests in Front of Amit Shah’s Residence

National Desk, 7 June: A large number of people from Manipur staged a protest in front of Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence in Delhi on Wednesday. However, Delhi Police tried to stop the protesters by putting up barricades.

It may be recalled that Amit Shah recently visited the violence-hit Manipur. On the other hand, there is still resentment among the Kuki community over the violence in Manipur.

Meanwhile, the situation in Manipur is yet to return to normalcy after the continuous violence . It may be recalled that Home Minister Amit Shah visited Manipur after the violence on May 3.

The protesters said Amit Shah had assured that peace would return to the state. So we have come to meet him. Incidents of violence against the Kuki community are still taking place in the state. So the protesters said they were going to meet the home minister peacefully demanding peace.

On the other hand, Police officials convinced the protesters and assured the home minister of their views. The protesters protested outside Amit Shah’s house with posters.

Meanwhile, the protesters said their messages have been sent to the home minister. The home minister is also hopeful of meeting them after listening to them. They also demanded that the home minister should also listen to the people of the Kuki community.

It may be recalled that violence broke out between the Kuki and Meitei communities in Manipur. Manipur has been tense due to caste violence for more than a month now. More than 80 people have been killed in the violence. On the other hand, thousands of people are in shelter camps. Besides, thousands of houses have been burnt down.
