Lachit Borphukan’s 400th anniversary Honored in Delhi through billboards & train brandings
Guwahati: The national capital’s main areas saw numerous sizable billboards and brandings of Ahom General Bir Lachit Borphukan on trains aboard Saturday.
The Assam Government will host the closing ceremony commemorating the 400th birth anniversary of Bir Lachit Barphukan at Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi on November 23 and 24.
The two-day celebration will highlight the lives of a select group of Northeast Indian warriors who triumphed over the Mughals in the famous Battle of Saraighat.
The Mughals conquered almost all parts of India but were never able to conquer Assam due to the bravery, martial skills and infinite patriotism of Bir Lachit Borphukan.
The event’s organisers wanted to highlight his accomplishments and lives since many people in the rest of India are still unaware of the Assamese warrior who beat the Mughals.
Taking to Twitter, Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika wrote, “Pleased to see a full train branding of @OfficialDMRC in New Delhi today highlighting the 400th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of Assam’s Bir Lachit Borphukan! We are leaving no stone unturned to showcase the legend’s valour at the national arena this time!”
“With immense pride in heart, sharing few images of hoardings, banners & LEDs from different parts of New Delhi highlighting the 400th Birth Anniversary Celebrations of legendary Bir Lachit Borphukan to be celebrated here in New Delhi on 23rd & 24th Nov’22,” he added.
